Savory Green Morning Shake

Skyr

Strained Icelandic cultured dairy — like Greek yogurt, but higher-protein and lower-sugar.

Targets: Protein & satiety

Skyr is a strained Icelandic cultured dairy — nutritionally a higher-protein, lower-sugar sibling of Greek yogurt (most of the lactose is fermented out, leaving a thick, tangy, casein-rich base). In the shake it plays the same role as Greek yogurt: creaminess, slow-digesting protein for satiety, and live cultures, for anyone who tolerates dairy. The pleasant tang suits the savory profile.

The evidence is by extension, not skyr-specific: higher-protein breakfasts blunt appetite, and cohort meta-analyses link fermented dairy — yogurt especially — to lower type-2-diabetes risk and neutral-to-favorable cardiometabolic markers. A sound, low-risk addition if dairy is tolerated; choose plain and unsweetened.
